Games

I design experiences where the audience is active and story oozes from the the choices players make. This work spans immersive theatre, escape games, live-action roleplay, and tabletop systems. I believe storytelling deserves more settings to be systemized and mechanized.

Escape Otherworld: Prosperity

Otherworld Theatre, Chicago | 2019
Immersive theatre, escape game, and live-action roleplay

A site-specific science-fiction experience designed for a working theatre.

Prosperity placed groups of up to seven aboard a spacecraft returning to Earth with a possible alien plague on board. During the 60-minute experience, players investigate the ship’s physical archive. They follow two parallel puzzle paths, interact with a quarantined Archivist (a live actor), and responsive ship Computer, and played the part of a secret character role that changed how the whole team approached the mission.

The final question was not simply whether they could escape. It was whether they should allow the infected ship to land on an un-infected Earth.

Otherworld promoted the production as an innovative escape room combining live-action roleplay, immersive technology, and a one-hour theatrical experience.
